“Tharaud's range of touch and colour, and his sheer enthusiasm, shine through every jewel-like piece.”  These are the words of critic Andrew Clements of The Guardian, London on Alexandre Tharaud’s latest CD featuring a selection of Scarlatti Sonatas.

Already established as one of today’s most individual and thoughtful pianists, Alexandre Tharaud has appeared at the Köln Philharmonie, the South Bank piano series in London, the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and the Kennedy Centre in Washington. His festival credits include La Roque d'Anthéron, the BBC PROMS, and the Rimini festival.

Alexandre Tharaud made a series of successful recordings with Harmonia Mundi including Jean-Philippe Rameau's Nouvelles Pièces de Clavecin and Ravel's complete works for solo piano, which received many awards including Diapason d'Or de l'Année, Stern des Monats from Fono Forum and Best CD of the year from de Standaard. His recording of a selection of Couperin's pieces reached the Top 20 in the German classical charts and was CHOC de l'année 2007 by Monde de la Musique. More recently he has recorded albums of Chopin and Scarlatti for Virgin, which have garnered similar praise.

Alexandre Tharaud 's adventurous approach to programming has resulted in a number of commissions and premières; he has toured extensively in Europe with his ‘Hommages à Rameau' and ‘Hommage à Couperin' programmes which feature works by the old masters interwoven with tributes by contemporary composers.

“Alexandre Tharaud is one of the leading pianists of the French Classical scene.” Rheinische Post
